Stylebot from your terminal

Control Stylebot from the command line, or let a coding agent like Claude Code, Codex or Cursor do it. The agent restyles sites right in your browser, using your own subscription instead of an API key.

Set it up

  1. Install Stylebot

    For Chrome or Edge. The command line doesn't work on Firefox or Safari yet.

  2. Install the CLI

    It needs Node 20 or later.

    $ npm install -g @stylebot/cli
  3. Connect it to your browsers

    This registers the CLI with Chrome and Edge, so Stylebot can reach it.

    $ stylebot install
  4. Turn on command line access

    In Stylebot's options, under Basics, turn on Allow command line access and allow what the browser asks for.

  5. Add the Claude Code plugin Optional

    In Claude Code, run:

    $ /plugin marketplace add ankit/stylebot
    $ /plugin install stylebot@stylebot

    Then try it:

    $ /stylebot news.ycombinator.com give it a dark theme

Commands

An agent runs these for you, but you can run them yourself too. stylebot --help lists them all.

$ stylebot open news.ycombinator.com
Opens the page in a window behind yours and prints its tab id.
$ stylebot outline 54432929
Prints the page’s visible elements as an outline.
$ stylebot css set news.ycombinator.com < dark.css
Saves the CSS as the site’s style, applies it, and checks the page.
$ stylebot screenshot 54432929 -o page.png
Saves a picture of the tab.

Privacy

Command line access is off until you turn it on. While it's on, apps on this computer can read your open pages, take screenshots and change your styles. Turn it off in Stylebot's options at any time.

Stylebot and the CLI talk only to each other, on this computer, and send nothing anywhere. An agent sends what it reads to its own provider, as Claude Code does to Anthropic.
